The U.S. has a big range of climatic zones because of the large size of its land. The Great Lakes: has a continental climate, which is very warm in summer and extremely cold in winter.
The Great Plains: has a more temperate continental climate than the Lakes region, with less severe winters.
The Mountains and Plateau areas: The high altitude areas are extremely cold in winter, the region has mild summers and very cold winters. The desert areas are very hot in summer and cold in winter with the area dry most of the time.
Pacific Coast region: has a warm all year climate with high rainfalls. It gets cooler in the north than the south at any time of the year.
